While exploring NAEYC’s website I found
the section ‘Take Action Now’.
NAEYC is much more than its
publications and position statements (as I initially thought), it is a
collective force that strives to raise awareness about the importance of ECE
and to help stakeholders deliver the best education for children. It calls EC practitioners
to be proactive and raise their voices so educational policies are in sync with
latest research, in addition to advocating to teacher’s qualification; the
allocation of adequate funds and to assure every child’s right to equitable
education.
It supports my understanding that
politicians, families, teachers, EC practitioners, educational leaders, etc.
share the responsibility to improve education for all children, especially those
who face adversities. It calls all stakeholders to take action, keep up to date
and active with regards to advocating for education. It also provides a myriad
of resources such as a) Power to the Profession, b) Effective Advocacy
Resources, c) Professional Development Systems, d) Children’s Champions for
action alerts, e) Action Center, etc.
The more I learn about NAEYC and its
efforts the more I believe positive change in education is possible.

"What do many neuroscientists, economists, psychologists, generals, faith leaders, parents, Republican and Democratic governors, teachers, principals, researchers, state and federal legislators, and business leaders all have in common? They share a belief that investing in high-quality early childhood education and early childhood educators will make America brighter, stronger, and more competitive. Why? Because decades of research show that early investment produces positive outcomes for our children, our families, and the economic future of our country.
We know that making early childhood education high quality boosts the well-being of children and that making it affordable helps parents get and keep a job. Americans—of all political, geographic, and demographic backgrounds—know this too. They understand how important it is for families to be able to choose high-quality early childhood education that best meets their needs. They recognize early childhood educators as professionals who have complex and demanding jobs and responsibilities. They understand the evidence-based connection between having high-quality educators and having high-quality education, and they know investing in early childhood education helps our country compete and win in the global environment.
From our nation’s inception, we have held a collective belief that all children, regardless of their circumstances, should have a fair shot at freedom and economic opportunity that comes with our democracy. But in reality, when kids start behind, they often stay behind – limiting their potential and their contributions to our country. Access to affordable, high-quality early learning boosts their chances to live up to that potential and become valuable contributors to society.
To fully extend America’s promise of a world-class education to the next generation, learning must start well before the first day of kindergarten for all children. Our nation can and must do better to create opportunities that help all children and families succeed."
In order to fully deliver on the promise of high-quality early learning for all children, NAEYC believes that our country must prioritize and implement a bold family and values vision that is rooted in the early years by:

I really enjoyed reading your blog. There is a need for high quality childcare. High quality childcare makes children and their parents perform at greater standard. We as educators must be proactive and advocate fir the well being of the whole child as well as the families. To have a successful childcare center we must have parent and family involvement to help facilitate and have well educated students. I really enjoyed your blog.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your blog. We must be a proactive advocate for the welfare of our children, families as well as teachers. We as educators play a big role. We must make sure that children are well taken care of many ways. We must work to ordain quality care. The children are our future and we must guide and protect them beyond measures.
ReplyDeleteI found your post to be incredibly interesting. I too have taken the time to focus on NAEYC. So far I am loving this experience. However, I had not seen the section that you have talked about in your post for this week. It looks like I will have to do some investigation of my own, it looks intriguing! I can't wait to look further into the "Electoral tools and resources" link you have provided.
