More Resources: Making and Tinkering

Professional Development

While exploring NAEYC's website this week I looked for resources that could help me with my current challenge and wish: to incorporate making and provide more inquiry opportunities in my classroom through making and play (it is all about problem-solving, right?). With that said, I found two books that called my attention : "From Play to Practice" and  "Making & Tinkering With STEM". These two wonderful books (that unfortunately cannot be delivered to Dubai) caught my attention as they actually teach how to incorporate inquiry, science and play by making and using natural materials. Jackpot!
In an effort to find more, I came across a webinar (below) that gives an overview about the book. The videos features the basics of STEM , the importance of the process and the role of the learning environment. Check it out!

  1. Tinkering is about play and mindset; problem solving. Hmm... Maybe politicians should listen to this webcast. HA! How can we begin to incorporate STEM when play is diminishing?

  2. NAEYC has a ton of awesome resources. It is a bummer that they won't ship to you. Did you contact them and ask why? I have consider becoming a member because you get free books and access to all kinds of digital resources. Thank you for your post
